Mobius Headset FAQ

  1. Aren't Mobius and Penrose pretty much the same?
    1. Actually no. Other than having a common case and similar drivers and microphones, they use completely different chipsets, offer different connection methods and sampling rates, and connect to consoles differently. Both offer Bluetooth and analog connections for convenience, but these are not intended as primary use modes.
  2. How exactly is Mobius different from Penrose?
    1. Mobius is primarily a wired USB headset which appears as an eight-channel (surround) output device to your computer; it features 3D audio and head-tracking technology which is not included in Penrose. Penrose is primarily a lossless, low-latency wireless two-channel (stereo) headset that uses a 2.4GHz USB transmitter.
    2. Mobius was designed mainly for PC use, while Penrose was designed with consoles in mind (but also works with PCs).
    3. If you're looking for a high resolution multimedia headset for PC, Mobius is the one for you!
  3. Can I use the Penrose dongle to turn Mobius into a wireless headset?
    1. No, Mobius and Penrose use different chipsets that are not compatible with each other.
  4. How can I use Mobius with my gaming console?
    1. Connection to some consoles is currently supported via AUX/analog with the 3.5mm cable, as some consoles require special licensing for USB or Bluetooth compatibility. See our support article on console connection for more details.
  5. Does Mobius support Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, Windows Sonic, Tempest, etc for 3D audio rendering?
    1. Mobius does its own 3D processing, so it can be used for 5.1, 7.1 or stereo audio using speaker emulation technology and optional head-tracking. Mobius is also compatible with any pre-processed 3D audio such as those above, when used in Stereo or Hi-Res modes with 3D turned off.
  6. Will I be charged at the time of my order?
    1. Yes, your payment must be complete to process your order.
  7. Do you sell to international customers?
    1. Yes, however, international customers will be expected to pay any customs fees/duties in addition to shipping. We recommend purchasing from one of our participating international dealers or distributors.
  8. What is the warranty period on Mobius?
    1. The Mobius warranty period is one year from the original date of purchase, unless mandated by local laws. We consider this as the delivery date for orders placed through our website. For Mobius purchased elsewhere, a dated receipt from an authorized dealer may be required as proof of purchase. Full warranty terms are here.
  9. How does Mobius actually work?
    1. For info about how to use Mobius, we invite you to check out our Mobius Technical Questions help page, where you'll find setup and use tips, troubleshooting and more!

"Great idea terribly cheap execution. This headset is only worth 150 bucks due to software design. How is it that these headphones don't even have a self turn off while my 25 dollar Taotronic headset from a few years ago do? Why is it that even when they are turned off and left to charge they are dead when i go to use them? killing me smalls. By the way, Im not going to change my rating because you just ask me too. You will actually fix the problem for me to change it."

best sound and mic, same broken plastic design

"Easily the best sounding headphones at this price point, and the mic is actually great. Used them for gaming and for work almost daily since I got them in 2020. I wish I would have seen all the reviews of the design flaw, my band snapped just like everyone else's. Unfortunately you can't baby the part to extend the life, it just depends on how wide your head is which stresses the joint to the band. Only recommend for small heads, I guess."

Fantastic headphones, built cheaper than $5 toys; terrible support

"I just lost my fourth pair in 26 months to the headphone band plastic breaking. $400 headphones should last five years, not five months. The sound quality is spectacular, and the mic is really good, but Audeze has completely given up on good manufacturing. Switching back to my 11 year old pair, *AGAIN*, because they have a metal frame, so they don't constantly snap Customer service keeps losing my returns, so I guess I have to buy another pair of headphones I asked for help a week ago. I was told it was assigned to a senior person, and I haven't heard anything since I use these for work. I can't keep waiting like this I'm a twelve year customer, and I'm losing my ability to believe in this company"

Design flaw

"I had loved these headphones since I got them as a backer. I have babied these and they sound amazing. They recent broke at the Y holding the ear pads. Looked it up to see if they sold the replacement part. While looking it up I saw countless posts on reddit on people talking about how the break at the same spot as mine had. I cant image being a person with a bigger size head that put these on often since this is a failure point and the stress they are under. Audeze has a design flaw that other should not get stuck with and people need to know. Stay away from the Mobius untill its fixed or there are replacement parts."

Cheap Materials & Bad Design

"I have now had 2 different pairs of the mobius headphones, both ending up as paper weights. my most recent pair, the plastic just snaped so now it's in 2 pieces. Obviously, this is a glaring issue with the mobius and Penrose headphone surrounding their design flaws. I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere or buying the Maxwell headphones since they are metal and seem to not be designed poorly. I will say with the issues that are out there with the design flaws these are still some of the best sounding headphones period. it is also a kick in the pants at the $400 price point that even though the plastic breaking is a very big issue that I was asked by Audeze to fork over another $115 for B-Stock replacement instead of acknowledging their design flaws and outright replacing my headset."

Fantastic

"Had a few years of great gaming audio with these. Superb sound and quality that really immerses yourself within the game. By far the best gaming headphones I've ever placed on my head to date. I cannot recommend these headphones enough! However, after a few years of use, the plastic just above the swivel has snapped on both sides. I simply glued one end back and was back running some online matches, but just a few months later the other side snapped as well and now the headphones are starting to flop around on my head. I'm not really upset over this since I have been using these headphones nearly every day and got such good mileage out of them, but my buds have had headphones for much longer and are still intact. It's a bit upsetting that they didn't last as long, especially for the price you pay for the headphones. I would gladly pay a little extra for some simple reinforcement or different material choice where there the headphones experience stress from flexing. But! I've been eyeing the model up, the LCD-GX... this might be my opportunity. If you're thinking of picking up the Mobius, you will not be disappointed. Just handle with care."

Excellent Sound - Excellent Customer service

"I left a one star review on the sept 26th, 2022 called 'Excellent Sound Very poor quality'. One of Audeze representatives contacted immediately me via email and explained that the issue with the head-phones (weak holders above the earcup) was fixed. He then proceeded to offer me a mobius pair at a discounted price. He even took the time to call me and explain that they really are focused towards customer's satisfaction at Audeze. I received the Mobius pair today and it is really something special, excellent sound, comfortable and it has a Bluetooth feature. I really recommend these pair to anyone for their quality and for Audeze's aftercare."

Amazing Headsets still after 2 years

"I purchased my Mobius over 2 years ago and they are still going strong. I use them mainly for gaming on my PC and have paired to my cell for music. For me without question these are the best headsets for what I need. Sound is Amazing and when I'm playing games like Resident Evil, I find myself looking behind my shoulder when I hear something in the background."
