Great but with bad ear pads

"The good: These headphones are amazing. And when i say amazing I mean the quality of the sound suits me, they don't sound "in your face" like you are pushing the stereo of a muscle car, but they sound like listening through a good stereo setup at home, like a rega amp, Dynaudio speakers combo that I have and that costed me 2500 euros. It feels like being in a room. What I enjoy the most is the non fatiguing nature of the treble response. It is textured and alive, and mostly precise but never fatiguing. One of the main gools of my purchase was to play my electric guitar through an amp and Ox amp Top box to play my real amps with headphones whenever my baby girl was asleep. These headphones were perfect for that. What more, I enjoy the occasional Rainbow Six Siege (a tactical shooter) and sound queue are so important that it needs to be loud, therefore I really appreciate the easier treble in that context as well. I can even pinpoint ennemies much easier than I did on previous headphones. The bad: I paied nearly 900 euros for these headphones and i received them with ear pads that are made of a synthetic material that is really bad. The pads just fell off the headphones, like literally after barely 2 years and Thomann informed me that it wouldn't be covered under warranty. I don't know in which world buying new ear pads after 2 years is normal wear and tear but not in my world, especially not on 900 euros headphones. So be aware that you will need to pay for a extra 100 euros to get leather ear pads after a couple of years if you buy that particular model."

Great quality and sound experience with fair price

"I really like these headphones. They deliver great sound, a wide soundstage, and excellent detail. I just have a question for the experts: which Amp/DAC would you recommend? I’m considering the Topping DX5 II OR Schiit Jotunheim 3 with Mesh DAC, but what would YOU recommend in this form factor?"

my journey from V-shape sound to LCD-2 Classic

"*This is my personal review from official Audeze reddit, but I feel that it would be great to share it here too. Before buying, I studied everything in detail and read about these headphones, expecting great immersion and atmosphere with good detail. And I got something completely different from what I expected in terms of sound, but I absolutely love what I got on the second day of listening. First, there is no more commercial V-shape sound with an extra layer of eternal bass in the form of a hum. The Audeze LCD-2 Classic delivers sound as it is, without hiding ANY details. It is absolutely the sound that was originally in the recording. Secondly, the dark tone gives an incredibly soft, velvety sound. No matter what genre of heavy music I play, I get soft highs that don't hurt my ears (as was once the case with my Hifiman XS Edition, which I sold after 3 days of ownership). And this tone engages me like never before, because even old recordings from the 90s sound lively, without hurting my ears, and even more exciting. I would draw the following analogy: I used to have pink plastic glasses in the form of Sennheiser Momentum 3, but now I have elite glass sunglasses that allow me to see everything without unnecessary UV damage to my eyesight (an analogy with bad recordings). I am extremely pleased with my purchase and believe that I have found the BEST sound I could achieve. While I felt nostalgic for the previous V-shape sound during the first two hours, by the second day I could say for sure that I no longer wanted to return to the previous sound. The sound I have now is the best I could have dreamed of."

LCD-2 Classic. . . Mind bLown

"I just got a pair of LCD-2 Classics and right out of the case I was blown away! The overall sound is amazing, the way they push the music away from you makes you feel like you're in the room with the musicians. Everyone that I've had listen through these picked an album they have listened to many times and every single person commented about how they were hearing the songs for the first time it seemed."

Great cans with some magic.

"I love these headphones! I think this purchase would come down to what kind of expectations you have. And what is grounded within those expectations and what is folly. They sound great out of the box. I use these with a Schiit stack or a schiit fulla . They sound very good out of the box, although flat for me. Nothing that can't be fixed by little EQ. I love these for electronic, rock/heavy metal/metal, and some hip hop music. Vocals sound amazing and its sprinkles magic on top that brings out things I had not heard before in tracks. The only con I can think of is it can be a little bright with some songs. Things that have "sprinkler hi hats" all over or crap recordings. I'm pretty sensitive to higher frequency stuff so I usually EQ down. Songs that sound great on the LCD2: |Cut - Sweet pill | See you Dead - Helmet | Eternal Light - Free Nationals |Get Involved - Raphael Saadiq| Cocaine Model - ZHU | |Untitled Forever - No Mana| I would recommend them. Especially on Black Friday."

Best ergonomics and heavy-duty construction.

"I already wrote about sound, but the ergonomics are best compared to other non-Audeze headphones what I tried+heavy duty craftsmanship. Not fatiguing at all(even 10+hours listening sessions)."

Very good sound.

"Very good detail and clarity, no distortion even at high volume, wide soundstage. I use Tidal via USB Audio Player Pro which have equaliser, in my opinion they greatly benefit from that. USB dac/headphone amp is Ifi Idsd Diablo(which is really good)"

Everything Desktop Audio

"I was never really been interested in Hi-Fi audio. Until a week before I bought my LCD-2 Classics. My at the time daily driver headphones the ATH M50x just flat out stopped working one morning and I had to get a replacement. I did a bunch of research into the headphone market and thinking I would treat myself I bought these LCD-2 classics and I was instantly blown away from the detail and clarity these headphones have. I now use these guys everyday for my desktop audio and they haven't let me down once. They are great for everything from video editing to music to even gaming just a great pair of headphones."

Below expectations at sound, great quality built

"I'm not truly satisfied by my LCD-2 headphones. First of all, extended yoke on the left side is not tight enough, so I faced with an issue of that yoke is sliding down. As a result of that, placing off headphones on my head is not ideal as ot supposed to be (the head is mid size). Also, I haven't faced with a critical quality improving on lcd-2 after my previous headphones - hifiman 4xx, so that's the biggest disappointment. I suppose, chinese headphones for 150$ should be drastically worse than well known Audeze, but its not like that. For me LCD2 it's more about status, comfort and quality built, but not about sound. Frankly speaking, its more overpriced due to YouTube reviews, than expected. I wasnt limited at that spends, but hopefully I bought one of the cheapest of large Audezes, since I'm not that impressed by quality. My stack - Schiit eq and amp , dac - Fiio. Tl;DR Headphones is good, but a bit overpriced due to provided sound."
