Eduardo Del Aguila is a Mexican audio mixer, producer, and audio enthusiast.
I am very lucky and I can say that I like a very high percentage of the work I do, I like the artists, the music and the final result, although I would always change something about my previous works. Here are some of the works that I am very proud of.
“To the Root” Natalia Lafourcade
“Background Music” Zoe “Six” Mon Laferte
Most of my work is mixing music in the studio or on tour, I am also a recording engineer and producer.
I come from a family of musicians, my father was a classical pianist and music was always present in my life and in that of my 6 brothers who, like my father, are also musicians, I listened to a lot of live classical music and many rock records, Progressive rock that my older brothers listened to, as well as the 70's pop that my sisters listened to.
I remember very well the first big concerts I went to, for example, Pink Floyd or The Cure, I remember the pleasure of listening live and a few meters away music that I had played for years on record.
I am hard on myself, I like my work to be the best it can be, so at the end of each job I always know what I have to change to improve the next one, always listen to and analyze your work and another’s great engineers and producers. This will give you perspective.
I think that the most important tools in my work are the monitors and the headphones, they are the ones that guide me, of course now there are dozens of plugins that I could not stop using, a single example is “Arousor” from Empirical labs.
Always keep your ears open and attentive, never stop listening to what great producers, engineers and artists achieve album after album, it is very inspiring.
I have around 25 years of experience in the music industry and have always used headphones in my work, most of the time in the last steps of a mix or master.
It has been quite easy to adapt to the headphones, when making adjustments in my work the sensation and ability to perceive is very similar to what it would be with monitors.
I think there is no way back after you start working with Audeze, the switch between monitors and headphones is pretty soft, an incredible extension and addition of my monitor system, Audeze are great!
Last Album I mixed is: Life After Vida (Live) by Draco Rosa
I have been mixing and mastering a lot of singles, most of them new alternative artist, also I am about to finish a great Latinoamérica tour with Natalia Lafourcade as a FOH mixer.
