Camo & Krooked
Austrian duo Reinhard Rietsch and Markus Wagner, otherwise known as Camo & Krooked have quickly become one of the hottest production outfits in Europe, creating a whirl of dance floor anthems since they emerged. Working together since 2007, they have been hailed as “one of the biggest talents in Drum + Bass” by the mighty Grooverider, and have gone on to fulfill this accolade since signing to Hospital Records in 2010, winning not one, not two, but three awards in the Drum & Bass Arena Awards 2011 for "Best Producer," "Best Video," and "Best Album."
Autumn 2011 also saw the birth of Camo & Krooked *LIVE* -- an amazing, multi-sensory show, featuring the pair perched inside an LED-lit cage using iPads and various MIDI-controllers to rearrange and modify their recent hits and trigger visuals, with album vocalists Ayah Marar and TC featuring, plus Messy MC hosting. Designed and built by Justin from Meno TV, Camo & Krooked *LIVE* was taken around the UK on an Autumn Hospitality tour before the duo took it overseas to their native Austria and the rest of Europe.
The 2012 remix album “Between The Lines” features re-works of “Cross The Line” cuts by a range of producers including Metrik, Mefjus, Subwave, BCee and more. The boys have also had their music featured on some high profile computer games and are busy working on their next album. Hold tight for more to come from this explosive duo!
PHACE is the alias used by Florian Harres, an electronic music producer and label owner from Hamburg, Germany. Over the past years, he not only defined his own style of bass-heavy electronic music, but also managed to tour all corners of this planet. Looking at both his strong global following and wide-ranging back-catalogue of releases (on the world’s biggest indie labels such as OWSLA, Mau5trap, Vision, Shogun, Critical, and his own imprint Neosignal Recordings), one can easily say that within this style of music it is quite hard to find a comparable contemporary artist shaping a sound and musical movement a similar way.
His music receives support by artists such as Amon Tobin, Noisia, Skrillex, Foreign Beggars, Andy-C, Koan Sound, Friction, Goldie, Skream, Alix Perez, Rockwell (to name just a few), and is best described by twisted bass, rhythmical experimentation, high contrast ambiance, deep cinematic themes, explosive energy, and yet human analog soul, constantly piquing demand for appearances at clubs, festivals and music media around the globe.
PHACE’s Neosignal Recordings label, co-owned by Michael Bräuninger (aka Misanthrop), is renowned for its innovative music and identity, and is one of the most wanted underground indie-labels of today. In 2012, Phace and Misanthrop launched a new collaborative electronic band project, also named NEOSIGNAL, to reach out into new fields of electronic music and sound.
In form of a remix for Noisia's “Stigma” released on Deadmau5's Mau5trap Recordings, the newly formed Neosignal band project found its first appearance, followed by a remix of Rockwell's “Childhood Memories” (feat. Kito & Sam Frank) on Shogun Audio, and a remix of Koan Sound's “Eastern Thug,” released on Skrillex's OWSLA imprint in September 2012.
Over the last decade, South London-based Larry Cons has amassed a vast discography on the Drum & Bass scene’s most respected labels. While his releases date back to the start of 1998, his history as an accomplished musician dates back to early childhood. Having studied five instruments from a young age, Larry has worked on projects and bands in several genres, perhaps most prominently as a guitarist in numerous Jazz and Funk bands, including his own eight-piece outfit “Octane.” While the home for most of his music has been the legendary Moving Shadow imprint, he has also had an array of highly-acclaimed releases on Metalheadz, V Recordings, Renegade Hardware, Subtitles, Violence Recs, Audio Couture, ill.skillz Recs, Intercom, Rugged Vinyl, as well as two of his own labels, Thunderous Audio (co-owned with Kontrol) and Momentum Music (co-owned with TeeBee).
A veteran producer and one of the most experienced artists in drum & bass, Darren White AKA dBridge is an artist whose multiple transformations and evolutions glide through a staggering list of achievements. Over the course of a long and distinguished career, he has been at the heart of some of the most exciting collaborative partnerships drum & bass has ever seen from Future Forces to Bad Company and mostly recently Club Autonomic. Forging a strong bond with Instra:mental, they showcased their Autonomic sound with an award-winning Fabriclive mix CD, worldwide tour and residencies for Fabric and Rinse FM. In 2011, dBridge returned the focus to his label Exit Records with the Mosaic Vol. 1 compilation and more artist LPs as he continues to be a mentor to the new breed of producers inspired by his career. As a solo artist, dBridge remains versatile with his own productions for Exit, Metalheadz, Reinforced, Hotflush, and more.
Misanthrop is Michael Braeuninger, based in Hamburg, Germany.
Caught up by the dark sounds and menacing beats of drum and bass in the nineties, Michael’s music developed into an intense musical hybrid. This is when he decided to produce his own tracks under the name Misanthrop, which enables him to use music as a medium to express personal experiences of human interactions. His musical arrangements symbolically aim to break through the borders of conventions to set new unusual grounds.
In 2013, Goldie completes a remarkable 20 years as a recording artist. To celebrate this impressive milestone, Metalheadz and the iconic ‘ffrr’ dance label have come together to release Goldie’s first ever career-spanning retrospective entitled The Alchemist: The Best Of Goldie 1992-2012. Released on March 11th on triple-disc CD and digital download, this definitive collection reads like a Drum & Bass almanac.
It was a move to London and a visit to the Rage Club in 1991 that changed everything for the talented graffiti artist from the West Midlands. DJ Fabio and Grooverider were playing that night and gave Goldie his first taste of Jungle. That night a fledgling career in music was born and the rest, as they say, is history. Inspired by what he heard, Goldie went on to write the incredible and hauntingly dark “Terminator,” a track that became a massive hit on the burgeoning underground Jungle scene.
Goldie’s latest album becomes the first retrospective of his long and illustrious career. It is a collection that takes us on a veritable 20 year journey through the Drum & Bass scene, from the epic opening track, “Malice In Wonderland” through to the truly extraordinary “Timeless.” In short this collection is a stunning testament to Goldie’s position as the undisputed “Godfather” of Drum & Bass.
Original, emotional, visceral. These are all words used to describe Noisia’s music and each is more than justified for this group renowned for their unparalleled technical skill and obsession with production techniques.
In less than a decade, the Dutch trio has gone from releasing drum & bass on now defunct independent labels, to crossing multiple genres: scoring for triple-A video games, having their music used on trailers for Hollywood blockbusters, and producing and remixing tracks for some of the world’s biggest artists.
Working from their studio in their hometown of Groningen Nik Roos, Martijn Sonderen and Thijs de Vlieger have gradually developed and cultivated a sound that’s all their own and instantly recognizable as a blend of incredible sound design, and unrelenting beats and basslines. Enlisted by the likes of Skrillex, Labrinth, deadmau5, Mark Knight ft. Skin and The Prodigy for remixes, Noisia’s career continues to grow as the Dutch trio have become one of the hottest DJ-production outfits around; a fact confirmed by numerous awards, including being voted Best D&B Act three times at the Beatport Music Awards.
Noisia pays homage to their roots by signing and developing some of the most exciting bass music artists to their Vision, Division, and Invisible labels, travelling the globe and destroying some of the biggest festivals and arenas in the world. Noisia’s vision is clear as they continue to push an uncompromisingly original, emotional and visceral sound.
